Pro-government student organisations held a rally at University of Dhaka in the morning on Sunday protesting the “stigmatisation of Shurawardi Udyan’s history with the liberation war and the father of the nation” by BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s Friday rally.
The organisations under the banner of “Chhatra Sangram Parishad” brought out a procession from Madhur Canteen at the university and held a rally in front of Raju Bhaskarja, marching around the campus.
The speakers at the rally alleged that Khaleda Zia on Friday “disgraced the history of the liberation war and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman” by allowing activists of Jamaat-e-Islami inside the historic Shuhrawardy Udyan, where he had delivered his historic speech on March 7 and where the Pakistani Occupation Army also surrendered.
