Chittagong Metropolitan Police granted permission to both ruling Awami League and main opposition BNP to hold their respective October 25 rallies in the port city of Chittagong.
Additional Commissioner Banaz Kumar Majumder told the Dhaka Tribune on Thursday night that the permission was given after a verbal negotiation.
Presidium member of Awami League Mosarraf Hossain said his party was given Shahid Minar prmises in the city.
Chittagong city unit BNP General Secretary Shahadat Hossain confirmed that his party was allowed to use Kazir Dewri for their rally.
The decision to grant both parties permission was made at 8:45pm Thursday night.
