BNP: Nayapaltan rally at any cost

Opposition BNP on Thursday vowed to hold its scheduled rally in the capital on Friday at any cost, no matter whether the police ban on it is lifted or not.

“Holding rallies and meetings are the constitutional rights of political parties. We have taken all-out preparations for staging the rally on Friday in front of our Nayapaltan office. We want to equivocally state that we will surely hold the rally,” said BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

Rizvi voiced his party’s determination to hold the much-hyped rally at a press briefing at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office, reports UNB.

He said BNP chairperson and leader of the opposition in parliament Khaleda Zia will address the rally which will begin at 2pm on Friday.

Rizvi said a BNP delegation went to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) authorities on Thursday again to have permission for holding the rally.

Asked whether the rally will be held if they are denied permission, the BNP leader said there is no doubt that the rally will be held, no matter whether they are given permission or not.
