BNP yet to get permission for Oct 25 rally

Main opposition BNP has yet to get the police permission to hold its pre-announced rally on Friday.

Earlier in the morning, a three-member BNP delegation consisting of opposition Chief Whip Zainul Abdin Farroque, law maker Barkatullah Bulu and BNP leader Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anne went to the DMP headquarters  to seek the permission.

Earlier on Wednesday, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam announced that the BNP would hold a grand rally on October 25 near the party’s Nayapaltan central office.

From a press conference at the BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office, Fakhrul sought the government’s cooperation in letting them carry out the rally.

However, at that time the DMP was yet to grant BNP the permission as it earlier imposed a ban on rally throught the capital for indefinite time from Sunday.

In his speech, Mirza Fakhrul also requested the police to lift the restriction measures.
