Islami Andolon Bangladesh (IAB) on Wednesday afternoon said they would not take part in the election if Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is made the head of the interim government.
Islami Andolon Bangladesh Ameer Syed Mohammad Rezaul Karim (Charmonai Pir) made the declaration in a press conference held at IAB central office in the capital.
Opposing the decision about the interim government, he said: “Interim government should be formed with honest, capable and influence free people like former judge, secretary, educationalist, journalist, professionals and Allem representatives.”
Urging Hasina to dissolve the parliament he added: “Fair election is not possible under the ruling government.”
Replying to a question regarding BNP chairperson’s interim government proposal Rezaul said: “The proposal cannot be affective as some of the people who were suggested to be a part of the interim government four are dead and six did not agree to be a part of the government.”
He claimed their suggestion to be the best way to form the interim government.
Meanwhile, the party declared a rally for October 26.
