BNP Senior Joint Secretary General and Political Adviser to the Prime Minister Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Tuesday said that attempts to rise to fascism are no longer possible in the country.
"The people and democratic forces remain united; any intimidation or evil activity of fascism must be resisted," he added.
Rizvi made the remarks while responding to a media query after a procession organized by BNP and its associated bodies in front of the BNP central office in Naya Paltan in Dhaka.
The procession started from the party's central office in Naya Paltan, went around the Nightingale intersection, and concluded with brief speeches in front of the Naya Paltan party office.
Rizvi said BNP and its associated bodies jointly organized the procession to “resist any attempt of fascists to raise their head."
"Those who had snatched away the beautiful dawn, sunlight, normal and healthy lives, and people's right to live from the people are now trying to create instability in the country using their stolen and laundered money in various ways," he said.
The veteran BNP leader said that after a long time, a free and fair election was held with the people's mandate. "Sheikh Hasina had snatched away elections and formed a government of misrule and bloodthirsty rule."
Besides, he said that conspiracies are going on to create instability across the country in a bid to tarnish the image of the democratically elected government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Rizvi claimed that in the four months of the government, no incidents of abduction, crossfire, or false cases have occurred.
Noting that the country is advancing towards progress, Rizvi said, "Conspiracies are underway to stop progress, prosperity, peace, multi-party democracy, and people's freedom of expression."
