Abul Kalam Azad, vice president of BNP Shailkupa municipality unit was arrested at 9pm from his village home in the district’s Kabirpur area.
Shailkupa Police Station’s Officer in charge Anwar Hossain told the Dhaka Tribune that they arrested Abul Kalam Azad as he had several local weapons with him.
These weapons could have been used in sabotage activities during the chaos of the unstable political situation, he added.
Police seized the weapons but no case has been filed with local police until Tuesday morning.
