Tarique Rahman calls press conference on Saturday afternoon

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is set to form the government after securing an absolute majority in the 13th National Parliamentary Election. Following its victory, the party has called a press conference to deliver its official reaction.

The post-election press conference will be held on Saturday at 3pm in the ballroom of the InterContinental Dhaka in the capital.

Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP media cell, said that party chairman Tarique Rahman will address the press conference.

According to the Election Commission’s gazette, voting was scheduled to take place in 299 out of 300 constituencies. However, polling in Sherpur-3 was postponed due to legal complications and the death of a candidate, while results in two other constituencies were suspended due to various complexities.

The Election Commission announced unofficial results for 297 seats.

According to EC data, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party won 212 seats. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami secured 68 seats. The National Citizen Party (NCP) won six seats, while independent candidates and other parties secured 14 seats.
