Syed Haider Farooq Maudoodi, son of Jamaat-e-Islami founder Syed Abul A’la Maudoodi, said he would help the International Crimes Tribunal in prosecuting Jamaat as a political party by providing books written by his father and other Jamaat publications.
He visited the office of Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee on Monday.
“As an illegitimate son cannot have right to his father’s wealth, likewise Jamaat cannot have any moral or constitutional right to do politics in Bangladesh,” Syed Haider said, according to a press release.
If Jamaat beseech mercy for their activities back in 1971, then their issue can be considered. There are many ways of helping people except politics, he said.
Later, he placed floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at his Dhanmondi 32 residence and visited the Bangabandhu Museum.
The meeting was attended by President of Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee, Mohammad Golam Rabbani, Executive President Shahriar Kabir, Vice-President Professor Muntasir Mamun, General Secretary Kaji Mukul, Law Secretary Tureen Afroz and Central Committee member Professor Mohammad Selim.
