BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman on Monday held meetings with senior leaders of various political parties to discuss the country’s political situation, democratic environment, upcoming elections, state reforms, and the need for national unity.
At 11 am, Tarique Rahman met top leaders of the Left Democratic Alliance at the BNP chairperson’s political office in Gulshan, Dhaka. The meeting began with signing a condolence book in memory of BNP’s recently deceased chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was also present. Alliance leaders urged Tarique Rahman to prevent anti–Liberation War forces from playing any role in politics.
Earlier, Ganosamhati Andolan Chief Coordinator Zonayed Saki called on Tarique Rahman along with other party leaders. Saki told journalists that the meeting focused on expressing condolences and discussing Tarique Rahman’s future plans, emphasizing national unity and the need for fair elections in line with the spirit of the 2024 mass uprising.
In the afternoon, he met Maulana Junaid Al Habib, BNP–Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam’s candidate for Brahmanbaria-2, focusing on election preparations, voter rights, and party organization. Tarique Rahman urged activists to work in unity, while Al Habib pledged to carry out activities peacefully.
The BNP acting chairman also held separate meetings with leaders of the AB Party, the Labour Party, and Mahmudur Rahman Manna, convener of Nagorik Oikya.
