State Minister for Law Quamrul Islam said the culprits behind the leak of the International Crimes Tribunal’s verdict against Salauddin Quader Chowdhury have been identified.
He made the announcement at a press briefing at the ministry on Wednesday afternoon.
Quamrul said: “The culprits have been identified, and legal action will be taken against them.”
“The registrar of the tribunal has already filed a general diary regarding the incident, and the Detective Branch of police have been given the responsibility of investigating the matter,” he said.
The culprits would be arrested as soon as the investigation was over, he said.
When asked the names of the culprits, he said: “A group of people have been trying to make the tribunal controversial and mislead the people about it.”
The minister also said the comment made by BNP Chairperson’s Advisor Khandaker Mahbub Hossain was a “contempt of court,” and he urged Khandaker to withdraw it.
On Tuesday, Khandaker said: “Each and every person involved with the trial process will be tried if BNP assumes power.”
Around 73 tribunals were formed to try war criminals in 1973 and Khandaker Mahbub Hossain was a public prosecutor of Dhaka Tribunal then, Quamrul said.
