Police on Saturday picked up five activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir from Patiya upazila in the district for their alleged involvement with subversive activities.
The detainees are-- Md Hanif, 22, Md Faruk, 25, Osman Goni, 32, Yahia Morshed, 16, and Md Ataullah, 20.
Patiya police station Sub-Inspector Aminul Islam said acting on a tip-off, a team police conducted a drive in upazila’s Boro Uthan area around 3:30am and picked up the Shibir men from a residence.
Mafiz Uddin, officer-in-charge of the police station informed that the detainees were shown arrest in a vehicle vandalism case lodged with Patiya police station on September 26.
