BNP delegation meets Charles Whiteley in Brussels

A Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) delegation met with Charles Whiteley, head of the South Asia Division at the European External Action Service (EEAS) and former EU ambassador to Bangladesh, in Brussels on Wednesday.

Two EEAS officials, Len Villadsen and Roshan Lyman from the South Asia Desk, also attended the meeting.

Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, BNP Standing Committee member and former minister, joined the discussion virtually.

The BNP delegation comprised Barrister Abu Sayem, adviser on Human Rights to the BNP’s acting chairman and member of the BNP Foreign Relations Committee and Media Cell; Saidur Rahman Liton, member of the BNP National Executive Committee and president of Belgium BNP; Iqbal Hossain Babu, general secretary of Belgium BNP and member of the BNP Foreign Relations Committee; and Muhammad Khairuzzaman Linkon, former international affairs secretary of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, the party’s youth wing.

During the meeting, they discussed several critical issues, including Bangladesh’s current political situation, the human rights landscape, and the upcoming national elections.

Charles Whiteley expressed his strong support for the people of Bangladesh and conveyed hope that the country would soon overcome its challenges and return to a democratic path.
