BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday said that BNP is always ready for polls as the party believes in democracy and election.
“BNP is always ready for elections. BNP wants to come to power through elections. Even if the election is held tomorrow, we are ready to join it,” he said at a press conference held at the party chairperson’s Gulshan office.
"BNP is not a revolutionary party. We want to come to power through elections, gaining the people's mandate."
Noting that it is quite possible to hold elections in December, Fakhrul said that April is not suitable as it would clash with Ramadan, two public examinations, and the monsoon season.
He pointed out that most elections in Bangladesh have historically occurred between December-November-January, and the two held outside this timeframe were both problematic.
