A three-member BNP delegation led by Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed on Monday joined the second phase of the National Consensus Commission’s dialogue, chaired by Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus.
This aims to resolve outstanding political disagreements following the first round of talks.
On Monday at 3:45pm, the BNP delegation arrived at the Foreign Service Academy located on Bailey Road in the capital.
The other members of the delegation are Ismail Jabiullah, a member of the BNP Chairperson's Advisory Council and Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal, former general secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
The National Consensus Commission was established to review and finalize the recommendations submitted by five key reform commissions, which were formed to address issues related to the Constitution, the Judiciary, the Electoral System, Public Administration and the Anti-Corruption Commission.
During the first phase of discussions, held between February 15 to May 19, meetings were conducted with 33 political parties.
Although the major political parties reached consensus on most of the proposed reforms, differences of opinion remained on certain critical issues.
