Hasnat Abdullah, chief organizer of the southern region for the National Citizen Party, has said that if the NCP does not field competent leadership in the election, there is no obligation to vote for the party.
During a roadside rally in Chawkbazar, Chittagong, on Tuesday, he urged voters to elect competent leadership in the upcoming election, regardless of party affiliation.
"If you find no qualified candidates from the NCP, you are under no obligation to vote for us. Do not vote based on party symbols—vote for those who will truly serve the people."
He emphasized the importance of civic awareness, saying: “If we, as citizens, refrain from engaging in corruption, our leaders will not have the scope to become corrupt. But if we sell our votes now, we will endure five years of oppression and will not even be able to speak up.”
Highlighting the need for accountability within families, he added: “Our anti-corruption efforts must begin at home. We must have the moral courage to question whether our fathers' income is transparent. If your father earns Tk40,000, pays Tk25,000 in rent and still affords to buy you a Tk1.5 lakh iPhone and you cannot question that, your education remains incomplete.”
