AB Party wants election by February 5

Mojibur Rahman Monju, chairman of the Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party), has said the party has told the chief adviser that it wants elections to be held by February 5.

The chief adviser said he would announce the election roadmap once he gains full control over the administration, Monju told reporters on Sunday, after a meeting with Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus.

Monju said that when asked why the chief adviser wanted to resign, he responded that he was concerned about whether a fair election would be possible. "We told him to coordinate with the political parties, especially to reduce the distance with the BNP. We have also consistently spoken about reforms and elections," he added.

"We have also called for dialogue with the student masses involved in the July uprising," he said.
