Leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) demonstrated for seven hours in Shahbagh area of the capital on Thursday, demanding justice for Shahriar Alam Shammo.
They also warned of resorting to stricter programs if the interim government fails to ensure a fair trial.
Chhatra Dal further demanded Dhaka University's Vice-Chancellor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan and Proctor Saifuddin Ahmed's resignation over failure to ensure security.
As part of their pre-announced program, JCD members continued their movement from 10:45am, blocking Shahbagh intersection and ended their blockade program at 5pm.
Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir said that if justice is not served, then no leader or activist of his organisation will sit idle at home.
"We will be compelled to proceed with the Jamuna siege program," he added.
Nasir cited Parvez, another Chhatra Dal leader's murder and questioned the government why these murders are taking place.
"The current administration at Dhaka University has completely failed. The resignation of the Vice-Chancellor and Proctor is inevitable," Nasir said.
