BNP leader Ishraque Hossain on Thursday said protests on the streets will continue until Local Government Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain and Information Adviser Mahfuj Alam resign.
“You can control a donkey with a carrot, not us,” Ishraque said on Facebook around 1pm, hours after a High Court verdict came in his favour regarding the DSCC mayoral post.
Ishraq wrote: “To my fellow protesters — donkeys can be tamed with carrots, not us. The fight continues and will go on until we hear of the resignation of the two student representatives acting as advisers. Do not leave the streets. We must escalate the movement further.”
Earlier in the day, following the news of the verdict, where the High Court dismissed a writ petition seeking to suspend the Election Commission’s gazette notification declaring BNP leader Ishraque Hossain mayor of the Dhaka South City Corporation, thousands of Ishraque's supporters held a procession near Jamuna and Matsya Bhaban intersection.
They are still holding their position there, chanting slogans in support of Ishraque and demanding the resignation of the two advisers.
