In a sudden demonstration demanding the resignation of the current government, the Awami League organized a swift procession in the capital.
On Tuesday morning, this procession was carried out under the banner of the Dhaka-11 constituency, Dhaka North City Awami League, along with affiliated and associate bodies.
Former General Secretary of the now-banned student organization, Chhatra League Golam Rabbani, shared a video of the procession on his Facebook account.
He said that the protest march that took place on the main road connecting Badda, Bhatara and Rampura was led by Dhaka North City Awami League’s Organizing Secretary Mazhar Anam and was organized by local leaders and activists.
Throughout the march, participants chanted slogans such as “Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu,” “Tumi ke, Ami ke? Bengali, Bengali,” “Tomar amar thikana— Padma, Meghna, Jamuna,” “Sheikh Hasina ashbe, Bangladesh hashbe,” “Sheikh Hasinar Voy nai, Rajpoth chari nai,” “Oboidho Shorkar, Manina, Manbona,” and “Sheikh Hasina Shorkar, Bar bar dorkar."
Notably, earlier on April 6, the Awami League had similarly staged a swift procession from Baitul Mukarram to Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital.
That procession was led by Shah Alam Murad, former General Secretary of Dhaka South City Awami League.
