Fakhrul urges unity, dialogue for election roadmap

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said a solution to the ongoing political crisis, including a roadmap for elections, will come through dialogue and unity.

“Undoubtedly, unity is possible,” Fakhrul told reporters at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday evening after returning home from Singapore.

Extending his greetings on the occasion of the Bangla New Year, he said: “This Pohela Boishakh will pave the way for building a new Bangladesh by clearing away the debris of the past.”

The BNP leader had travelled to Singapore on April 6, along with his wife, Rahat Ara Begum, for medical checkups.

Back in 2015, while in prison, a blockage was detected in Fakhrul’s internal carotid artery. Since then, he has been receiving follow-up treatment in Singapore every year.
