BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that the public is being played with over the election date.
"There is confusion regarding the election date. Sometimes it is said to be in December, sometimes in June, sometimes in March," he said on Saturday during an Eid gift distribution program for underprivileged families in Sirajganj.
He added: "The party that opposed independence in 1971 can ask for a Constituent Assembly, but my question is, under whose direction or influence are those who fought against inequality asking for it? A Constituent Assembly is for a separate country, but our country achieved independence in 1971, not in 2024."
He said: "We too want justice for the martyrs and the injured in July-August, but how many years will it take to bring justice? It could be done in a year to a year and a half, but instead of focusing on that, they are playing games with the election."
