In Lakshmipur, Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr Shafiqur Rahman said that no one can stay in power through corruption and misrule.
He said that exploitation took place in the name of building Sonar Bangla in the past. However, politics cannot continue in a way that forces one to flee the country like using muscle power.
He made these remarks while addressing a public rally at Adarsha Samad High School ground in Lakshmipur at 11am, on Saturday, presided over by Lakshmipur District Jamaat Amir Master Ruhul Amin.
There was widespread enthusiasm among party members and supporters for this rally, which was organized in Lakshmipur after 28 years. Other speakers at the rally included Jamaat Assistant Secretary-General Maulana ATM Masum, Central Working Council member Kazi Din Mohammad, Central Executive Council member Mobarak Hossain, Chittagong City Amir Shahjahan Chowdhury, Comilla City Amir Kazi Din Mohammad, Dhaka City North Secretary Dr Rezaul Karim, Central General Secretary of the Workers Welfare Federation Advocate Atikur Rahman, and President of Lakshmipur Forum in Dhaka Dr Anwarul Azim.
Dr Shafiqur Rahman also mentioned that extortion is still ongoing in the country.
He said: "I humbly ask to stop this. If anyone is facing food shortages, we will arrange food for them."
He called for continuing the struggle against corruption and misrule, inspired by the spirit of the July Revolution. The rally was attended by a large number of party leaders, workers, and supporters.
