Shamsuzzaman: Govt must ensure people's right to food, vote

BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu on Wednesday said that the current government must grant the people their right to food and vote.

"The government must pay attention to people's safety," he added.

He made these remarks during a citizen gathering organized by the "Save the Country, Save the People Movement" in front of the Jatiya Press Club.

"The distressing situation people are facing must be alleviated, and actions must be taken swiftly in areas where Hasina's supporters are still present," he said.

Shamsuzzaman said: "No matter how vigilant the people of the country are, if the government is not made vigilant, if the government itself is not alert, the forces of fascism will gain strength and destroy the potential of Bangladesh. To save Bangladesh from this destruction, we must preserve national unity."

Addressing the people of the country, pro-democracy political parties, and BNP leaders and activists, he said: "If we remain divided, autocracy will become stronger. Therefore, we must remain united in all circumstances. Autocrat Hasina and her associates are conspiring in various ways to destabilize Bangladesh. Their close allies, who have stood against democracy, supported autocracy, and aligned with fascism, have the backing of a neighboring country.

"We must remain vigilant in this regard. And we must maintain the unity we had on August 5."
