9 hurt in Jessore BCL-Shibir clash

At least nine people were injured in a clash between the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League and Islami Chhatra Shibir at Navaran in Sharsha upazila on Friday.

Quoting witnesses, police said several hundred activists of Chhatra Shibir, student front of Jamaat-e-Islami, gathered in front of the local Jamaat- office on the Kazirber Road in Navaron area for bringing out a procession at about 9:30 am.

At the same time, a group of activists of Chhatra League, student body of the ruling Awami League, brought out a procession from nearby Navaron Bazar.

Shibir activists hurled crude bombs at the BCL procession, triggering a clash that left nine people injured on both sides. The injured were rushed to several hospitals and clinics, reports UNB.

Being informed, police rushed in and brought the situation under control. Police nabbed four activists of Jamaat-Shibir in this connection.
