The Secretary General of the BNP, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, said fascism first wins an election and then seizes all powers of the state to consolidate its authority.
He made this statement during the Golden Jubilee and Honours Ceremony of Dinajpur Govt College organized by the Department of Economics on its 50th anniversary, where Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir attended as the chief guest.
He added: “Afterwards, it creates an atmosphere of fear and a serious state of phobia so that no one dares to speak out. By the grace of Allah, we have managed to move beyond that situation. From here, a new opportunity has emerged. We will transform Bangladesh into a democratic state once again.”
Mirza Fakhrul also expressed his confidence, saying: “I believe our youth will play a significant role in fulfilling our dreams. They harbour immense hope and ambition. Together, we aim to build a new Bangladesh. Our young men and women are working tirelessly toward that goal, participating in movements and striving for change.”
He further said: “Over the past 15 years, the younger generations have been deprived of their right to vote. We want to unite and transform Bangladesh into a democratic state.”
Mirza Fakhrul also alleged that a massive amount of money has been siphoned off by the government’s associates.
The event, presided over by Professor Zaheda Parvin, featured special guests including Professor ANM Golam Rabbani, Professor Taslim Uddin Ahmed, and Professor Abdul Jabbar, among others.
The chief guest, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, was honoured with floral tributes and a crest by various departments of the college.
Earlier, he inaugurated the event by releasing balloons. The program was attended by teachers, students, and BNP leaders and activists from various levels in the district.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir taught in the Department of Economics at Dinajpur Government College from 1972 to 1978.
