Zonayed Saki, the chief coordinator of the Ganosamhati Andolon, has said Sheikh Hasina has fled to India, where she is allegedly involved in conspiracies against Bangladesh, destabilizing the nation's governance.
He said that she used to accuse the opposition of relying on foreign powers, but now she is begging foreign nations, holding onto their feet.
However, the people of the country no longer want to return to fascist rule.
He made these statements on Saturday afternoon while addressing the Ganosamhati Andolon Rangpur District unit dialogue meeting, aimed at establishing a democratic, non-discriminatory state, at the central Shaheed Minar ground in Rangpur.
He said, "Fascists ruled the country the way they did, maintaining the same constitution, laws, and systems, and we cannot preserve democracy in the country without changing that. To establish democracy, we need a new political system, a democratic constitution, and reforms in state institutions. We need democratic elections where people can elect their preferred candidates and exercise their voting rights."
He urged the people to unite, saying: "Rights are never given, they are taken."
He also criticized the interim government, saying that people are suffering under its rule, with the price of essential goods increasing, the price of fertilizer rising, and the fascists and their allies still evading justice for killings and disappearances.
Zonayed Saki added that the events of July-August, when Rangpur native Abu Sayeed, a student of Begum Rokeya University, took a bullet to his chest, helped break the reign of fear established by the fascist government.
He said that for 15 years, the government created a climate of terror through attacks, false cases, and imprisoning thousands of leaders and activists without trial.
The farmers and workers who create the wealth of the nation never received a fair price for their crops, while the wealth of the country, about Tk12 lakh crore (equivalent to two national budgets), was siphoned off and laundered abroad.
He praised young activists like Abu Sayeed, Mugdho, Forhad, Zulfiqar, and Sakil, who, through their sacrifice, have sparked an uprising.
He said that the current interim government is operating on the foundation of that uprising, and it is their responsibility to lead the country towards a democratic system.
He warned that the fascists and their allies are plotting to destroy this uprising and undermine the current government.
He pointed to the brutal murder of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif in Chittagong, accusing the attackers of trying to provoke Muslims and incite attacks on Hindus.
He condemned the involvement of thugs under the Iskcon banner and their attempt to incite hatred between communities, to show disturbing images and videos to Western countries, particularly the US.
He alleged that they believe Donald Trump’s arrival would rescue Sheikh Hasina, and they are seeking India's assistance in their conspiracy.
Other leaders of the Ganosamhati Andolon, including Taiyadur Rahman, Bachchu Mia, Abdul Alim, and others, also spoke at the meeting.
