Fakhrul off to London to meet Tarique

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir went to London, United Kingdom, to meet with BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir went to London to discuss and seek guidance from the party's acting chairman Tarique Rahman on various issues including future politics and the party's future plans.

He has left Dhaka with his wife Rahat Ara Begum on a Bangladesh Biman flight at 8:25am on Saturday, said Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of the party's media cell.

The BNP Secretary General is scheduled to return to the country in two weeks.

Many of the party's top leaders believe that there is a multi-faceted conspiracy going on in the country at the moment. In such a context, the meeting of the top two leaders of the party is very important. Therefore, the party's Secretary General is going to meet the acting chairman.

BNP sources said that during the meeting, they will discuss various issues including the ongoing politics in the country.

Regarding the BNP Secretary General's visit to London, several leaders of the party said that the party's acting chairman Tarique Rahman has been staying in London with his family for a long time.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is preparing to travel to America via London for advanced treatment in December.

The discussion will focus on how Mirza Fakhrul will lead the party with party leaders in determining the course of action and how to manage the party in the absence of the top two leaders.

Mirza Fakhrul went on this trip to London amid preparations to take BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia abroad for better treatment.

It is also known that Khaleda Zia will go to London for treatment after the BNP Secretary General returns to the country. Party sources said that all preparations are being made accordingly.

It has been learned that the BNP Chairperson's visa process for the US and UK has already been completed.

Apart from this, Khaleda Zia may go to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.

A senior leader of the party said: “Various types of protests have been going on in the last few days since the interim government took office. Recently, after Iskcon leader and spokesperson of Bangladesh Sammilita Sanatani Jagran Jote spokesperson Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari was arrested and sent to jail, various incidents are happening. India in particular has protested. The interim government is making various statements about this. Apart from this, there are protests on the streets demanding on.

Stating that the interim government is lacking in action, a BNP vice-chairman said: "After the fall of the Awami League regime in the student-public uprising, BNP is fully supporting the interim government. The party is also cooperating with the government's reform initiatives. The party has demanded that the interim government hold early parliamentary elections. But no action is seen from the government on these issues."

Earlier, a delegation led by BNP Secretary General met with Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus on Wednesday and presented their position on various ongoing issues. In such a context, Mirza Fakhrul is going to London to discuss the steps to be taken with Tarique Rahman on all issues.

Mirza Fakhrul is scheduled to return to Dhaka on December 11. After he returns home, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia may go to London for treatment on December 13.
