Maulana Mamunul Haque, General Secretary of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh’s Dhaka Metropolitan chapter, criticized India for what he described as undiplomatic and inappropriate behavior regarding Bangladesh's internal affairs over the past 15 years.
He made these remarks on Friday during a protest organized by Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh at the northern gate of Baitul Mukarram Mosque.
He accused India of deeply wounding and hurting the people of Bangladesh through blatant interference.
“We strongly criticize India’s policies towards Bangladesh. We want to send a clear message to India: change your policies towards Bangladesh. Otherwise, 200 million people of Bangladesh will take to the streets, and we will be compelled to sever diplomatic ties with India,” Mamunul Haque said.
The protest was held to address several issues, including alleged demolition of mosques and court structures by Iskcon and the brutal killing of Saiful Islam in the court premises.
