AL failed to understand people's pulse: Fakhrul

BNP's acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir Tuesday said the ruling Awami League failed to understand the people's pulse.

He rejected the statement of Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam that Awami League was smelling victory in the next general election.

Attending an iftar programme organised by Association of Engineers Bangladesh at the Ladies Club, Fakhrul said: ""It is unfortunate that Syed Ashraf could not understand people's pulse.""

He asked party leaders and activists to get united to foil the government's conspiracy to rig votes.

Fakhrul, however, said confusion was still prevailing whether the election would take place or not.

"The government is hatching conspiracy to rig votes and people will certainly resist such evil design," he said.

Fakhrul said: "The Election Commission was formed with worthless and incompetent people. They themselves curtailed their powers."

Fakhrul also alleged the government had restored one party parliamentary system in the country in the guise of democracy.
