The Democratic Students' Alliance held a torch procession on the Dhaka University campus on Thursday evening, protesting alleged baton charges by the army on rickshaw drivers.
The procession, which began at TSC around 6pm, marched through various campus areas before concluding at the Raju Sculpture with speeches.
Members of the Socialist Students' Front actively participated in the demonstration.
Mozammel Haque, the organizational secretary of the Socialist Students' Front at Dhaka University, questioned the army's actions, saying: "Rickshaw drivers come out to earn their livelihood. Instead of suggesting alternatives to battery-powered rickshaws, why did the army resort to baton charges? Many drivers lack the physical strength to pedal rickshaws. Why were they subjected to such treatment without any rehabilitation measures in place?"
