Gono Odhikar Parishad President and former Ducsu VP Nurul Haque Nur has called for the government to allocate an annual budget for registered political parties.
He said: "Ordinary people need to be engaged in politics. The fear of spending millions keeps them from participating in elections. All local elections should occur before the national election. We want to seize the opportunity of a 2024 mass uprising to build a new Bangladesh."
He made these remarks as the chief guest on Saturday at the Youth Assembly in Maizdi, Noakhali, organized to build a corruption-free, equitable, and democratic nation, inspired by the sacrifices of students and citizens.
Nur said: “One group of looters has gone, but if another comes to power, the same issues will repeat. Those who wish to engage in control and extortion like the Awami League fear Gono Odhikar Parishad.”
He further said: “In the new Bangladesh achieved through the sacrifices of students and citizens, there will be no place for fascism. State reforms cannot be permanent without political reform.”
