Bin Yamin Mollah, President of the Chhatra Odhikar Parishad, has warned that Jatiya Party (JaPa) will not be allowed to hold its gathering on Saturday.
The Jatiya Party has called for a gathering on Saturday demanding the withdrawal of cases against its chairman, secretary general, and other leaders, as well as to address the rising cost of living and the arson incident at its party office.
He said: "Allowing the Jatiya Party to hold a gathering on Saturday is another conspiracy to rehabilitate the Awami League."
He made this statement at a press conference under the banner "Students, Workers, and People against Fascism" at the TSC of Dhaka University on Friday.
During the conference, they demanded the arrest of Jatiya Party leaders.
Bin Yamin Mollah said: "Yesterday, the Awami League's cadre force gathered at the Jatiya Party's office as per a premeditated plan. As soon as we arrived in Kakrail, they launched an unexpected attack on us. You have heard that the Jatiya Party has announced a gathering tomorrow. We have information that they will bring in Awami League cadre forces from various places to hold the gathering."
He added: "We are repeatedly issuing ultimatums to ban the associates of fascism. They are trying to return in various forms. We want to know the current government's stance on them. How does the DMP commissioner allow these killers' associates to hold a gathering?"
Student leader Mashiur Rahman accused the Jatiya Party and the Awami League of jointly attacking torch bearers on Thursday.
He said: "Yesterday, the Jatiya Party and the Awami League attacked us together. I still have bandages on my hands. They say they will gather again tomorrow. Do they think they have the right to do whatever they want? They will attack and hold a gathering at the same time!"
He denied any connection between the student-worker-people and the burning of the Jatiya Party's office, saying: "It was the aggrieved public that burned their office as a consequence of their actions."
