Jamaat Ameer calls for unity regardless of party affiliation

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has called for unity among all, regardless of party affiliation or religion, to build a fascism-free and equitable, youth-centric humane Bangladesh.

He made this statement as the chief guest at a gathering organized by the city and district Jamaat at the Altafunnessa playground in Bogra on Saturday afternoon.

Shafiqur Rahman said that the registration and party symbol of Jamaat have been unjustly taken away. He demanded their immediate return of these things.

The Jamaat Ameer also emphasized the importance of supporting the families of martyrs and the injured, saying: "It is our first and moral duty to stand by those who sacrificed their blood for a fascism-free new Bangladesh. We have made every effort to support all martyr families, regardless of party or religion. Now, we must take responsibility for the proper treatment of the injured."

The meeting, presided over by newly elected city Jamaat Ameer Abidur Rahman Sohel, also featured remarks from Professor ASM Abdul Malek, Maulana Mansurur Rahman, and Manzurul Islam.

During the event, Jamaat Ameer further said that the fascist Awami League government has killed 12 top leaders, including two of their ameers, through mock trials. He accused the government of forcefully taking away the party's registration and symbol, demolishing their homes, and using the police to imprison thousands of their leaders and activists.

He added that in the end, the Awami League had to escape power and the country, having pushed their helpless workers and supporters into danger.

Dr Shafiqur Rahman declared that the fascists, including Sheikh Hasina and her allies, would be brought to justice and punished in such a way that no fascist would ever be born on Bangladeshi soil again.

He asserted that the people of Bangladesh would not allow any fascism to come to power again.

Earlier in the day, a conference for members was held under the chairmanship of newly elected city Jamaat Ameer Abidur Rahman Sohel, where the Jamaat Ameer administered the oath to Abidur Rahman Sohel and Maulana Abdul Hakk to their positions as city and district amirs, respectively, in the presence of 4,047 members.
