Farroquoe blames Awami League for price hike of essentials

BNP Chairperson’s Adviser Zainul Abdin Farroque on Friday said that the prices of essentials would not increase if the "thieves" within the Awami League were held accountable for their actions.

“The prices of essentials, including eggs and onions, will not rise if the members of the syndicates, as well as the thieves and frauds of the Awami League government, are brought to justice,” he said.

Farroque made these remarks during a symbolic sit-in demonstration demanding the withdrawal of all “false” cases against BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman.

The event was organized by "Protibad," a social organization, in front of the National Press Club.

Referencing Sheikh Hasina’s assertion that she would never flee, Farroque said: “Sheikh Hasina proudly claimed that the BNP wouldn’t have time to escape. Ironically, she had to flee the country after resigning from her post as prime minister.”

He alleged that the "superhero of the Liberation War, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman," left for Rawalpindi (in Pakistan) with a suitcase under the guise of an arrest after bowing down to Pakistan.

Pointing a finger at India, he said, “It is high time to see what you (India) want to do. If you aim to restore Sheikh Hasina to power after pushing her back to the country, then we will believe that you (India) want to turn Bangladesh into your provincial state.”

Farroque said that Bangladesh achieved independence through a long struggle and fought for its language. “So, please don’t try to belittle Bangladesh. Hand Sheikh Hasina over to the government immediately. The people of Bangladesh do not want the Awami League in power anymore.”
