Chief Adviser’s dialogue with political parties on Saturday

As part of the ongoing consultations with stakeholders, Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus will hold dialogue with another group of political parties on Saturday.

Fifteen political parties, including Gono Forum, Liberal Democrats Party (LDP) and Bangladesh Jatiya Party (Andaleeve), are among those which will join Saturday's dialogue.

To discuss the ongoing reformation process the chief adviser has been sitting with several political parties of the country and this episode is also a continuation of this ongoing process, said Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, deputy press secretary to the chief adviser on Tuesday evening at a press conference at the capital.

“The dialogue with political parties is an ongoing process. More political parties will be invited for dialogue in this episode or the next time," told Azad.

He also said that apart from the dialogue with the political parties, some other issues will be discussed; among them, the most important thing is the price of commodities.

“Commodity price has become a general public concern. A number of steps have been taken today to bring down commodity prices to a more tolerable level,” told Azad Majumder.

In response to a question whether the Jatiya Party (Erhsad) will get an invitation to attend the dialogue or not? Azad said: “I have mentioned the names of the political parties who have been invited this Saturday. It has not yet been decided about the other parties, the Advisory Council is working on it,”

This will be the second such dialogue in the third round, which started on October 6 with the participation of BNP, Jamaat, CPB and some other parties.

While responding to a question regarding "minus two formulas", Azad said that the interim government has no idea about the "minus two formula."

“We do not know what the 'minus two formula' is. It has not come up during any discussion and will never come up," he added.

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam moderated the briefing and two Assistant Press Secretaries Nayem Ali and Shuchismita Tithi were also present.
