Mojibur Rahman Monju, member secretary of the Amar Bangladesh (AB) Party, has called for the prosecution of individuals involved in genocide and corruption through a special tribunal.
"Many of those who carried out genocide, oppressed people, and amassed illegal wealth through corruption are still in the country," Monju said.
"They should be immediately arrested and brought to justice. A special tribunal should be set up to try them, and compensation should be provided to the families of those injured and killed in the agitations. Better treatment should also be arranged for the wounded."
He made these remarks while addressing journalists at a party centre in Manoharpur, Comilla Nagar, on Sunday afternoon.
Monju also emphasized the need for national unity in tackling future challenges.
"We, who stood with students, workers, and political parties during the mass uprisings, are now distancing ourselves by debating who contributed what. But we must maintain our national unity. I don't want to see a return to a corrupt, divided Bangladesh. We want to create a new Bangladesh, and everyone must come forward to help build it," he said.
During the exchange of views, Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad, joint member secretary of the party, addressed various questions from journalists.
He criticized the ruling Awami League, saying: "Awami League has sold even your voter ID card. This is what they are, selling the spirit of the Liberation War for personal gain. They have compromised the identity of 120 million people. Our fight for self-esteem, which began in July-August, must be remembered. The war is not over, and Martyr Abu Sayed's legacy inspires us to continue."
