Rizvi demands inclusion of pro-democracy supporters within administration

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed on Tuesday called on the government to appoint deserving officials who have supported democracy in various administrative roles.

While distributing leaflets for a dengue awareness campaign in the Gulshan area of Dhaka, Rizvi warned that if associates of the ousted dictator remain in positions of power, they could lead the country into peril.

He said: “You (interim government) will certainly demonstrate generosity and humanity. However, if the autocrat's accomplices, who lacked both humanity and generosity and encouraged Sheikh Hasina to suppress protesting students and citizens, continue in administration, they will obstruct your every move.”

Rizvi said the government to identify these dictator's cohorts within the administration and appoint officials who either supported the pro-democracy movement or remained neutral during the student-led protests to key positions.

He said that if these cohorts are not removed, they would endanger the country, adding that they are supported by “lords of a special superpower.”

According to the BNP leader, these cohorts are still entrenched in their roles, continuing to conspire against the interim government with the backing of external forces.
