AL, BNP, Jatiya Party submit audit reports

Bangladesh Awami League, BNP and Jatiya Party submitted their annual audit reports to the Election Commission on Wednesday.

Deputy Office Secretary of Awami League Mrinal Kanti Das, Joint Secretary General of BNP Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and presidium member of Jatiya Party Tajul Islam submitted the reports on behalf of their respective parties.

Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, at a press briefing, said the annual income of his party was around TK18m while the annual expenditure over Tk22.6m.

Awami League did not disclose its annual income or expenditure, but said both were more than what was earned or spent in the last year.

""As per party decision, the figures will not be disclosed to the public, unless the commission wants us to do so,"" said Mrinal Kanti Das.

Earlier during the day, Tajul Islam submitted the audit report on behalf of Jatiya Party. Their income was about Tk48m while their expenditure was around Tk49m.

Meanwhile, Bikolpo Dhara Bangladesh, Jatiya party (Monju), Workers Party and Shammobadi Dal requested the election commission to extend the submission deadline.

The commission had fixed July 31 as the last date for all political parties to submit their audit reports.

According to the Political Party Registration Rules-2008, all parties have to submit their annual financial reports to the EC.
