BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury on Saturday said as per the instructions of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, the party leader and workers have been engaged in humanitarian work in the flood-affected areas from the beginning.
He said this while talking to journalists after visiting the flood victims at Lakshmipur Poura Ideal College here at around 12pm.
"BNP is working to rehabilitate the flood victims with utmost importance and effort. The initiative will continue until the rehabilitation is completed. They (BNP leaders and workers) have been instructed to stand by the flood victims always," he said.
When asked about the agreement on fair share of water with India, he said: "We want our fair share of water according to the international law. If people elect BNP as the government, we will settle the matter with mutual interest and respect from our side. The people of Bangladesh have been waiting for a solution to this issue for ages."
During his visit, Khasru spoke to the victims and inquired about their health and requirements. Necessary items, including clothes and food, were distributed on behalf of the party among the distressed.
