Rashed Khan Menon detained in Dhaka

Workers Party of Bangladesh President and former minister Rashed Khan Menon has been detained by the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

The Workers Party has confirmed the arrest.

On Thursday evening, Menon was detained from his residence in Banani. He was later taken to DB office in Minto Road.

He has been implicated in a case filed with the International Criminal Court concerning allegations related to the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement  and the mass killing during the Hefazat-e-Islam rally in Shapla Chattar on May 5, 2013.

However, the DB Police has not yet confirmed the specific charges or the case under which Rashed Khan Menon has been detained.
