Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has questioned in which sector Mirza Fakhrul fought the liberation war and from where he received training.
Terming BNP's freedom fighters' rally as fake ones, Quader said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir held a rally of freedom fighters in the capital on Monday.
“BNP's freedom fighters' rally is fake one and those who joined this rally are also fake freedom fighters. They are cohorts of Pakistan," said Quader.
He also said because of the opposition of BNP, Bangladesh has not got yet the international recognition of the genocide the Pakistani forces carried out during its 1971 liberation war.
"They (BNP) are agents. Because of them, we still haven't got the recognition of the genocide. We have not got our fair dues from Pakistan. We have been bearing the burden of Pakistani citizens for many years.”
Ruling party General Secretary Quader made these remarks at a rally at the capital on Monday afternoon organized by Dhaka City Awami League.
Quader said: “BNP leaders did not utter a single word about the 25th March genocide in their Freedom Fighters rally today. They did not mention the Bangabandhu’s name. Basically, BNP is a party of defeated Pakistani agents. Their freedom fighters rally is the rally of fake freedom fighters because they do not believe in the spirit of liberation war,”
The minister said that the Pakistani citizens staying in this country are like a burden.
“Pakistan has not taken back its citizens despite promises. Pakistan has not once expressed regret for the genocide in 1971. No government official of Pakistan has ever apologized to the people of Bangladesh and Bangladesh for war criminals in 1971. Pakistani agents of this country are our enemy,” told the minister.
In his speech, Obaidul Quader asked BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir to know where he was during the Liberation War?
“Where did you get training? In which sector you fought for liberation war?” Quader asked Fakhrul.
Quader also criticized BNP leaders’ anti-Indian movement and said: “Indian products are in everyone's home. BNP leader Rizvi threw off his Kashmiri shawl and burnt it. Who knows how many more shawls are in Rizvi's collections? Our food is not complete without Indian products. Who doesn't have Indian onions in their house?”
Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, A F M Bahauddin Nasim among others also addressed the rally.
