Fakhrul: BNP to continue movement to restore democracy until people’s victory

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday said that the party will continue their ongoing peaceful movement for the restoration of democracy in Bangladesh until the victory of the people. 

“The people of Bangladesh have always struggled for democracy, rights to vote and rights to food and they will be victorious in the ongoing movement," Fakhrul said.

“We will continue our movement until the victory,” said the BNP leader. 

Fakhrul made these comments after his release from Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj in the afternoon. .

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury were freed from jail on bail after nearly three and a half months of their arrest.

BNP leaders and activists enthusiastically greeted the two senior leaders as they walked out from the Dhaka Central Jail's main entrance in Keraniganj on Thursday.

Earlier, the Detective Branch (DB) Police detained BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir from his residence in Gulshan on October 29, then after 9 hours he was arrested and sent to the court by the police. 

On November 2, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury was detained from his home in Gulshan. He was arrested in the case of the attack on the Chief Justice's residence on the day of BNP's October 28 rally.

There are production warrants in 13 cases against the BNP Secretary General. 

The Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judges Court's acting judge, Faisal Atiq Bin Quader on Wednesday granted bail to the two senior leaders of the BNP in the case filed by the police regarding the attack on the residence of the Chief Justice on the day of the BNP's rally in Dhaka on October 28.

Before the bail in this case, they were granted bail in 10 other cases.
