Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has said the BNP has become a party that constantly complains, but embassies will not be influenced by their words.
“The BNP engages in wrongdoing, and then they send letters [to embassies] and lobby unnecessarily to cover up these misdeeds. This is not right, as everyone knows the reality. No individual's propaganda will affect anything. The embassies will not be influenced by their words," he said in Sylhet on Monday.
The minister said: "The Awami League believes in peace, stability, and development. Because of the Awami League, Bangladesh is developing, and the reserves are increasing.”
He urged people to vote for the Awami League in the January 7 elections to continue this development trend.
Momen said: "Under the Awami League government, the poverty rate has dropped from 42% to 18.7%, and extreme poverty has decreased from 25% to 5.6%. We are optimistic that Bangladesh will soon be free from poverty."
The current government has allocated Tk1,459 crore for the development of the extended area of Sylhet City Corporation, he said. A budget has been allocated for the construction of a shed at the airport for the convenience of the passengers' relatives and friends. The Sylhet Development Authority Bill has been passed, and the dredging work on the Surma and the Kushiyara rivers has commenced.
He appreciated the important proposals of the Sylhet Chamber of Commerce for the economic development of the district and assured them of all-out cooperation in implementing the proposals.
