Zaker Party to withdraw candidates from over 200 seats

The Zaker Party has decided to withdraw its candidates from over 200 constituencies in the upcoming national election scheduled for January 7, 2024.

The party will keep fewer than 10 candidates in the polls, Shamim Haidar, the party's secretary general, confirmed the decision on Sunday morning.

However, Shamim himself is participating in the election. The party will remain in the electoral race independently with their party symbol “rose”.

The party will not step down from the electoral race. Rather, candidacies are being withdrawn in more than 200 constituencies as part of its effort to pay full attention to certain seats, the leader of the party added.

The secretary general also said that they will have candidates in seven to eight constituencies to contest the polls.

The Zaker Party candidates have already applied to withdraw from the election. It will be clear by noon where the party will eventually contest, he added further.
