BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Sunday said that the Awami League government will conduct elections in the country in their own style.
But the people of Bangladesh will not allow such an election, said Rizvi.
The BNP leader made the comments after holding a protest march in Dhaka to support their blockade, which began on Sunday morning.
Rizvi said: “Sheikh Hasina wants to remain in power even after selling the country. There is no patriotism in her. But they can't stay in power by plotting. The people will not allow any election in Bangladesh without a non-partisan neutral government.”
Rizvi led the protest march organized by Jatiyatabadi Matsyajibi Dal.
It was brought out from Kakrail Karnaphuli Garden City and ended at the Shantinagar intersection.
The ninth phase of the BNP’s blockade started at 6am on Sunday and will end at 6am on Tuesday.
The opposition parties observed blockades prior to this to mount pressure on the Awami League government to quit power and hold the next general election under a non-partisan administration.
