Leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliated organizations on Sunday brought out processions in the capital on the first day of the seventh phase of the nationwide 48-hour blockade.
The processions were led by the party’s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Dhaka District BNP General Secretary Advocate Nipun Roy Chowdhury.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi led the procession at Kamal Ataturk Road in Banani in Dhaka at around 7am.
The procession, organized by Dhaka district unit BNP, ended at the Kakoli area from Banani field.
At that time, BNP men took positions and tried to block the roads.
Meanwhile, another procession was brought out by Advocate Nipun Roy Chowdhury.
The procession started from Motaleb Plaza and ended in front of Paribagh after circling various roads.
Hundreds of BNP leaders and activists of Dhaka district including south Keraniganj and affiliated organizations participated in this procession.
At the procession, Rizvi said that the government has become bankrupt and is looking for a partner. But without getting any response, the party is trying to arrest some leaders with the help of law enforcers.
Criticizing a report published in the media of a neighboring country, he said the Indian government and the politicians of their country should understand why the people of Bangladesh have turned against them.
“By supporting an authoritarian government like this, they have taken a stand against the people of Bangladesh,” said Rizvi.
He said the bloodiest border in the world is now the Bangladesh-India border. BSF is shooting and killing Bangladeshis there almost every day.
Another 48-hour nationwide blockade of road, rail, and waterway, called by the BNP and like-minded opposition parties began Sunday morning amid fear of violence.
The latest blockade started at 6am on Sunday and will end at 6am on Tuesday.
