Dhallywood actor Ferdous Ahmed has collected nomination forms for two constituencies in Dhaka – Dhaka-10 and Dhaka-18 – from Awami League.
He confirmed to the media about the collection of nomination forms on Saturday.
Despite being a showbiz star, he has not been seen in any notable movies in the past few years. He did not appear in any significant acting roles during this period.
However, he was quite active in Awami League politics. Also, he had done public relation works for the Awami League in various elections across the country.
Regarding his interest in the 12th Parliament election, he told a national daily: "I received my first National Award from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Since then, I have had the opportunity to be near her on various occasions. I started participating in politics actively as I started to have faith in her philosophy.”
Ferdous continued: "I have served people throughout my long acting career. I have entertained them. At the very end of every Bengali movie, the evil is being suppressed and we are showing the enlightened way. Hero conquers everything. All the movies I have acted in, I have done those from a place of faith. Besides, it makes me feel good when I can do something for people."
Earlier, Awami League started selling party nomination papers for the 12th national parliament election on November 18. The party sold nominations till November 21. The party earned Tk16.81 crore by selling 3,362 nomination forms in four days.
The 12th national parliamentary polls will take place on January 7, 2024
