Massive turnout marks 3rd day of Awami League nomination form sales

The third day of the Awami League nomination form sale for the upcoming 12th national parliamentary election has been witnessing a huge crowd in Dhaka.

Thousands of Awami League nomination aspirants and their followers with banners and placards converged in front of the central office of the party in Bangabandhu Avenue on Monday morning.

Many Awami League leaders ignored the party directive and each of them arrived with a large group of supporters, creating trouble. There were reports of scuffles at the entry as well.

Even though party officials were requesting the leaders and activists to maintain order and cooperate each other, nobody was paying attention.

The Awami League nomination form sale started on Saturday with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina collecting nomination forms.

Since then, the Awami League office has been witnessing a massive crowd every day.

On Sunday, the party’s General Secretary Obaidul Quader faced difficulty entering the central office due to the crowd. He attempted to enter the office at least three times but could not navigate through the nomination aspirants.

Ten booths for eight departments were set up at the party's office on Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital, facilitating the sale of forms. The process will continue until the next Tuesday.

This time, the price of the Awami League party nomination form has been set at Tk50,000, and the party will finalize candidates for the 300 seats after the nomination board concludes the sale of forms.
