Kader Siddique: Election Commission is caretaker govt during polls

Regarding the ongoing blockade called by BNP and like-minded parties demanding a caretaker government, Krishak Sramik Janata League President Kader Siddique has said the Election Commissioner is the caretaker government during polls.

"Some political parties said they will not participate in the polls without a caretaker government. But during the election, the Election Commission serves as the caretaker government. So, it is not a big issue who decides to participate in the next election and who does not," he said.

He made the comment at a meeting in Tangail on Friday afternoon.

Kader Siddique further added: “The key factor is that the government and the Election Commission must ensure that people can vote peacefully and freely.”

He added: "BNP is engaging in criminal activities in the country solely to demand a caretaker government. They have been burning vehicles and killing people since October 28. They have lost their battle here."

Addressing Tarique Zia, he said: "Someone who can not return to the country and take care of his sick mother, how can he serve the country again.”
